Bluebonnets!!!

We went out today and had our own little photo shoot in the beautiful Texas Bluebonnets. Audrey did a great job and actually loved all the pretty flowers. Although at one point we thought she might get a ticket because she had a handful of bluebonnets and it is against the law to pick them since they are our state flower. Babies don't count though...right?

Thank you Grandma Marcia for the great idea to do this...the pictures turned out great!!! We had a lot of fun out in the strong wind and getting abandoned car parking stickers on our cars!

5 Months Old!

Audrey is 5 Months old! We went out with our great friends Allyson, Matt and Audrey's future best friend Abby, for some buffalo wings and some March Madness Basketball.

We had a great weekend, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we had a lot of fun hanging out with great friends and family!

Lunch Date

Today we had a special lunch date with Audrey's Mamo and Grandma Marcia. It was a really nice late lunch at La Madeleine. The food was great and the company was even better!

Its great having our Moms' so close who always love to come over and 'help' us out by babysitting Audrey. My mom comes over every Wednesday so that I can go and workout and Bryan's mom comes over once a week so that Bryan and I can get out and have a little grown-up fun. Audrey LOVES her Mamo and Grandma Marcia!!!

Who me???

Our little munchkin is growing so fast...it is so much fun watching her get her own little personality and seeing what she likes and dislikes. I'm excited about all her new "tricks" and can't wait for her next phase, like sitting up and eating baby food and then real food...but then at the same time I realize that she is growing and I know I'm going to miss where we are now, so I'm really just trying to enjoy every moment.

Here are a few things that I want to remember...

- She goes to bed at 11pm and sleeps till 7:30am straight. She has been doing this since she was 3 weeks old. Since then I have only had to wake up once to feed her a couple of weeks ago. (Although, she had a really bad couple of nights when we went to San Antonio to see our good friends Randy, Iva and Colin. Our second night there she was only sleeping for 45 minutes at a time. When we got back home she was right back to her normal schedule, so I think it was just sleeping somewhere else that threw her off.)

- She is still sleeping in her pack and play in our room, but we are preparing her room for her and will be moving her soon. Her original furniture was defective so her new stuff is finally in and waiting for her to enjoy. We just need to get the monitors working...in the meantime she is starting to take her naps in her crib to hopefully get used to sleeping in a different room.

- She loves her Baby Einstein DVDs! She can be throwing a huge fit and I can pop the DVD in and she is totally captivated. We also are starting to work on sign language to help her communicate a little easier before she is able to start talking...so we have been watching lots of Baby Signing Time DVDs. It seems like it is going to be a lot of work, but if she at least picks up a couple of the most useful signs like eat, sleep, drink, milk, juice and mommy and daddy, we might be able to avoid some tantrums due to communication. We'll see how it goes.

- She is still eating every 3 hours during the day. I'm not really sure how much she eats...when I give her a bottle she takes 4 oz really fast. She seems satisfied, but most of the time she can't make it the full 3 hours till the next feeding. But when I nurse her, even though she eats a lot quicker now, I think she gets more milk and it seems to last longer.

- She is really liking her rice cereal! We took a little break from it when she was sick because she was so fussy and it ended up being torture for all of us. Now she opens her mouth and moves her head toward the spoon and sometimes even makes sound effects with smacking. It cracks Bryan and me up!

- She has to hold my hand while she eats. My days of one handed typing are over for now!

- She throws her arm back, arches her back and throws her head back to see what's on TV or what's going on when I am nursing her. It's really cute!

- Lately she likes playing on her belly more than her back.

- When she's on her tummy she will rotate around, and I will find her facing the complete opposite direction. She also puts her toes down and pushes her little butt straight up in the air!

- She loves to give kisses! Anytime I go to kiss her she opes her mouth and slobbers allover my cheek! Last night she decided to kiss herself in the mirror!

- She loves to wash her hands in the sink!

- She has a really soft voice. She talks very quietly and when she gets really excited she has this really high pitched squeal. It cracks us up!

- She loves playing with her feet!

We went on a walk yesterday and here she is in our jogging stroller. She loved it as usual...she passed out!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

All Better!

Well after a couple days of staying home with a fever...we are finally feeling better! She never really showed any symptoms of being sick, just the fever. Although today she woke up a little congested and coughed a couple of times, but I think it's just the severe weather change. (Two days ago it was 86 and today it's a high of 43!)

Rice Cereal and Fever

Well this past week has just flown by! Here are some pictures...

We tried rice cereal with her on Sunday night. Bryan was super excited to feed her so I let him do it. After a few spoons full of cereal making it to her mouth, but then coming back out of her mouth, he said that it was enough for that night. I explained to him that she just needs to practice the act of eating and get good at it. The next morning I fed her and she got a little more down. Practice makes perfect!

After I fed her the cereal I nursed her and she fell right back to sleep (which was unusual for her), I felt her head and she felt warm so I took her temperature and it was 101.7! I had Tylenol to give her, but felt that I should call her doctor first. I left a message with a nurse and kept taking her temperature every couple minutes. I'm a little paranoid about fevers because when my sister was a baby her fever shot up too quickly and she ended up having a seizure. After fifteen minutes her temperature was now 102.8 and I still had not heard back from the nurse, so I call back and talked to a nurse she told me to go ahead and give her Tylenol and to bring her in tomorrow for a check-up to see what's going on.

This morning we spent over two hours at the doctors office getting blood work, urine tests, flu test and ears checked...everything came back normal! So basically she has a little virus that will just run its course. She still has a slight fever today so we are just hanging out and taking it easy.

Sleeping it off

Audrey had her pediatrician appointment this morning. She weighed 13lbs 10oz and was 24 inches long...which puts her in the 50th percentile in height and weight. He said she looked great and then spent a lot of time with us answering all of our questions about dry skin, teething, naps, riding in a jogging stroller, and feeding. Good news (for mommy), he said that she she can now ride in our jogging stroller! The weather has been beautiful and I've been dying to get out there and enjoy it with my bright yellow stroller. He also told us in a couple weeks to go ahead and introduce rice cereal to her twice a day...so that's exciting! She also got her 4 month immunizations. It ended up being two shots in one leg and one orally. She is really good with the one she drinks...I wish they could give all her shots that way! When they got her in her leg she cried for a second, and then Bryan picked her up and she quit crying almost immediately. Daddy's little girl! I know I would be totally fine to take her to her appointments without him, but I'm so thankful he wants to be there...he is so good with her. Anyway, since we have been home, pretty much all she has done is eat and sleep. Since she hasn't been her normal self, I've taken her temperature a couple times to make sure she's not running a fever. No fever...so I guess she just wants to sleep it off! :)

A year ago today...well, sort of.

I wanted to post a year after we found out we were pregnant, but I can't possibly do that. Why you ask? Well we found out that we were pregnant with Audrey on February 29, 2008. Yep, the extra day of 2008 ended up being a glorious day for us. So, I guess we can only truly celebrate that day every 4 years! It makes me wonder about all the babies born on February 29th...do they just pick February 28th or March 1st to celebrate on? It makes me feel a little special to have that extra day, that only comes around every 4 years, mean so much and be so important...hopefully all those leap year babies feel the same way!
