Audrey's First Christmas!

We had a wonderful Christmas. It was so special for us because we had already received the best present ever...our precious Audrey. Here are some pictures from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Since Audrey was just born about 2 months ago, and had 5 baby showers, there was nothing that she really needed for Christmas. So Bryan went out and bought her a couple little toys and I did the same. We each wrapped the gifts that we had separately bought her and then on Christmas morning I opened the gifts Bryan had bought her, and he opened the ones that I had bought. It was a lot of fun opening up the surprises that we each picked out for her. We did this while she slept in...she is such a good little sleeper.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas! Things have been so busy...The Holidays with a newborn requires lots of multi-tasking and blogging has not been that high on my priority list. So here are some pictures in a short post. I will post more later with today's and tomorrows festivities.

We had a Christmas get-together which my camera was dead for the party, but I charged it the next day to take some adorable pictures of our close friends son Colin (9 months). We had a great time with Randy and Iva...and Colin loved Audrey. He wanted to play with her, but 9 month olds don't exactly understand "gentle."

Here are some pictures I took this week of Audrey in some of her Christmas outfits. She is a lot of fun now...she smiles a lot and really likes for Mommy to act silly and sing and make funny noises.

Audrey Update

Audrey turned a month old the day after Thanksgiving. The three of us decided to go out to eat at our neighborhood On The Border to celebrate...plus I have been craving Mexican food for weeks! This was our first restaurant experience with her and she slept through the whole meal so Bryan and I had a hot meal that we could both could eat at the same time. It was so nice!

We went to the pediatrician this past Monday because Audrey's umbilical cord still had not come off (it finally fell off yesterday)...they weighed her and she is weighing 9.5 lbs. She is still eating every three hours and playing first then sleeping between feedings. We have our good days and then our not so great days...like today she just wants to be held, which I love to do, but it doesn't make for such a productive day. (Although, I'm getting pretty good at typing with one hand.) Usually she loves to lay on her mat by herself for almost an hour just staring at the hanging toys and kicking away.
(Her play mat. She loves just staring at the flowers & butterflies on the sides.)

(In her swing...she only likes it for about 10 minutes, if were lucky!)

(Swaddled...she usually fights it at first, but eventually gives in and falls asleep)

(Napping in her bassinet with her Mommy Sounds Bear...which she loves!)

At night we do our last feeding around 11pm. I nurse her in our chair and then swaddle her and rock her to sleep. She is sleeping in her pack and play that is set up right beside my side of our bed. She is now sleeping from 11:30pm till about 6am, then I feed her and put her in bed with Bryan and I. She falls right back to sleep and we sleep till around 9:00. This is how a typical night looks...Nighty-night!

Thanksgiving Day

I love Thanksgiving! I love everything about it...I love sleeping in (when it's not my turn to have it at our house), I love the food, family and giving thanks for all that we are so lucky to have in our lives. This year we have so much to be thankful for...we have our little miracle. Thanksgiving is the best holiday!

We went to my parents house where Bryan's family joined us. Here are some pictures of how we spent our day.

The Aggie vs. Longhorn game got moved back to Thanksgiving day this year. Even though we knew it wasn't going to be a very good game for the good ol' Ags, we were excited to sit down and watch a football game on Thanksgiving with family that we actually cared about. Audrey did a wardrobe change and sported her little Aggie cheer leading outfit and sat with daddy to watch our Ags lose 49-9.

Oklahoma Visit!

Time flies with a little one! I really have wanted to keep my blog updated, but Audrey keeps me really busy, and with the holidays it has been hard to find time to get online long enough to type something.

We went to Oklahoma the weekend before Thanksgiving. Bryan needed to go up there for work, so Audrey and I decided to go with him and introduce her to all of his family. I was a little nervous about taking a three and half week old baby on an eight hour drive. Not to mention the packing involved with all of her stuff. I'm just now getting the hang of everything and then to take me away from our house is like taking a hermit crab out of its shell, but I knew that it would be good for me and Audrey to leave the house for more than an hour and a half at a time. So we packed up everything, the pack and play, the play mat, diapers and more diapers, and lots of warm clothes. Well, I'm proud to say that Audrey did a wonderful job in the car. We drove for 3 hours at a time and then stopped to nurse and change her diaper. Our first stop in Corsicana at Sonic, she was screaming...so I decided to feed her first and then change her diaper. I fed her and then burped her. I thought that it would be a better choice to change her in the car then go to the possibly nasty bathroom at Sonic. So I started to undress her and noticed that she had pooped. As I looked a little closer I saw that not only did she poop, she really pooped! It was all the way up her back almost to her neck. I felt awful knowing that I was patting her on her back when I was burping her and splattering it all over. Poor baby! I thought about running her to the bathroom to wash her up in the sink, but by this time I was covered in poop and she was naked so crossing the parking lot in 40 degree weather did not seem like the smartest thing. So I went through almost a whole package of wipes and cleaned her really good...and we were on our way. We rolled into Oklahoma around 8pm...so it took us about 9 hours. Not bad with the little one.
(After a long day of traveling!)

Here are some pictures of Bryan's family and Audrey. They were so happy to meet her!

We went to visit Bryan's Grandma, Aunts and Uncle. We had a great time visiting everyone and they all loved our little Audrey! Not to tell another poopy diaper story, but here it goes. While we were at Aunt Denise's house I knew that she had a messy diaper so I asked Aunt Denise where I could change her diaper. She told me to go up to her bedroom and change her up there. So I grabbed the changing pad, a diaper and some wipes we went upstairs and set everything up. As I was changing her she decided she wasn't finished. Luckily I caught it in the clean diaper. So I yelled down to Bryan to bring me up another diaper, but this time I decided to wait and give her time to finish. Ten minutes goes by and as I take off her diaper it comes pouring out again...but this time I didn't catch it. I yelled down to Bryan, "I need you...and bring the diaper bag!". He comes running up with it and sees Audrey and me both covered in poop. He tries to help with damage control, but as I am trying to clean her she starts to pee. So now she is laying in her own poop and pee. So far we have not gotten a drop on Aunt Denise's bed, so we throw down one of the extra blankets to soak it all up. What a mess! I definitely learned my lesson and now consider myself experienced in catching poop!
